The MA5680T ETSI service shelf is mainly used in the indoor cabinet N63E-22. The ETSI service shelf provides the following functions when configured with various boards. l Supports the VDSL2, ADSL2+, and SHDSL service, the Ethernet subtending, the ATM subtending, and the optical services. l Supports the POTS, ISDN BRI, and ISDN PRI service. l Supports the P2P FE optical service. l Supports the GPON service. l Processes the services and transmits them upstream to the IP network.

Working Principles The ETSI shelf consists of functional modules. These modules support the access and the upstream of the service. The ETSI shelf consists of the following functional modules: l Ethernet switching module l Control module l Service interface module l Network interface module Ethernet Switching Module The Ethernet switching module is the core of the entire system. It converts data and processes protocols between the service board and the control board.

Control Module The control module consists of the control board, subboard, and related software. This module performs the following functions: l Controls the system and service switching. l Provides the environment monitoring port for connecting to the environment monitoring module.

• The xDSL service board accesses the xDSL signals and converts them into the Ethernet service signals.
• The AIUG service board accesses the ATM signals and converts them into the Ethernet service signals.
• The BIUA board accesses and transmits the BITS signals as the input or output clock of the device.
• The OPFA service board accesses the FE optical signals and converts them into the Ethernet service signals.
• The GPBC service board accesses the GPON signals and converts them into the Ethernet service signals.
• The ASRB service board accesses the POTS signals and converts them into the Ethernet service signals.
• The Ethernet service signals are transmitted to the control board, uplink board, or TOPA board through the backplane bus. Then, the Ethernet signals are forwarded upstream through the control board, uplink board or TOPA board.
• The ETHA service board or the uplink board accesses the Ethernet subtending signals. The Ethernet subtending signals can be transmitted upstream after being transmitted to the control board or TOPA board through the backplane bus. Or the Ethernet subtending signals are transmitted upstream by the uplink board directly.
